Entrepreneurship, Fair Trade and Social Justice

no reply Post / Views Gabelli School of Business, Fordham University, NY and EMPI Business School, New Delhi jointly conducting the course on 'Entrepreneurship, Fair Trade and Social Justice'. This course focuses on the entrepreneurial response to economic injustice, as expressed in Fair Trade. People become entrepreneurs for a variety of reasons; one reason is to reform and evolve the existing economic system so that it reduces poverty. Fair Trade demands entrepreneurship, since the 10 rules of Fair Trade are guidelines, and they must flex for each culture and business environment. Undoing the knotted layers of extreme poverty, for example, has never been successfully standardized. Entrepreneurship in the context of Fair Trade has the distinctive agenda of providing simple sustenance to groups who have been battered by poverty. Equally, entrepreneurial projects that are not yet certified Fair Trade can begin to tip the balance in the direction of economic justice. We will study a variety of these entrepreneurial attempts, and look for insight by comparing them to the Fair Trade paradigm. Fair Trade supplies us with an unusual lens and method of analysis.
